Imphal, Oct 3 (UNI) In a major breakthrough against cross-border militancy, Security Forces have arrested the self-styled Commander-in-Chief of the Chin Kuki Mizo Army (CKMA), a banned outfit, from Churachandpur district.
The accused, identified as Paokholen Guite of P. Mongjang village, was apprehended from S. Munuam under Churachandpur Police Station .
Guite was allegedly involved in trafficking arms and narcotics across the India-Myanmar border for non-Suspension of Operation (SoO) groups, including the UKNA.
He was also linked to a series of extortion activities in the region.
Security Forces recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition from his possession, including two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, 31 rounds of 7.62 mm AK ammunition, 150 rounds of 7.62 mm SLR/LMG ammunition, a bulletproof pouch, two mobile phones, and a vehicle. A cash amount of Rs 1,00,000 was also seized.
Meanwhile, Security Forces intensified operations across Manipur, leading to multiple arrests of insurgent cadres linked with the proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA).
Two active cadres were arrested from Imphal West district. In a separate operation , Manipur Police arrested another PLA cadre from Thoubal district.
