Crime Branch arrests wanted accused in Bhalswa dairy murder case after 14 months

New Delhi, December 13 (UNI): The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has arrested a long-absconding accused in a sensational firing and murder case registered at Bhalswa Dairy, an official said on Friday.

The accused, Subhan Khan (23), had been evading arrest since October 2024 in connection with a violent incident that left two persons injured, one of whom later died, police said.

Subhan Khan was wanted in an FIR registered at the Bhalswa Dairy police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and the Arms Act. The process of proclamation under Section 84 of the BNSS had already been initiated against him by a court due to his prolonged absconding.

The incident dates back to October 15, 2024, when Subhan Khan, along with his associates Abhishek alias BD, Rahul, Ankit alias Vicky, and Shakil, allegedly went to the residence of Nasir in Bhalswa Dairy after procuring illegal firearms.

During a confrontation, members of Nasir’s family reportedly tried to defend themselves by throwing bricks from the rooftop.

In response, the accused allegedly opened fire at them. Two persons sustained gunshot injuries, and one of them, Shahrukh, later succumbed to the injuries sustained. “Four other accused in the case had already been arrested during the course of investigation,” the police added.

“The arrest was made following specific intelligence received by the Crime Branch, NR-I. A police team mounted surveillance near GT Road at Tikari Khurd Bus Stand, where the accused was expected to meet an associate,” said Pankaj Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime-IV).

Initially, he attempted to mislead the police by giving false identities; however, Khan was apprehended around 3 pm.

During the sustained questioning with him, he confessed to having been involved in the case, the DCP said in his statement.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to being present at the spot and carrying a country-made pistol, while other associates were armed with pistols and fired shots. “He further disclosed that he had been frequently changing locations to avoid arrest,” DCP Kumar said.

Subhan, a resident of Bhalswa Dairy, has studied up to Class 6 and worked as a carpenter with his father. “After completing legal formalities, he was formally arrested in compliance with Supreme Court guidelines,” police stated, adding that further investigation into this case is ongoing by the team.
