Bhopal: A 22-year-old crane driver, Mohammad Musharraf Khan, resident of Bismillah Colony in Bhopal’s Aishbagh area, died by suicide on Saturday night. He was found hanging in his room. Police recovered a diary from the scene, which contained a suicide note naming his three brothers and two sisters-in-law. In the note, Musharraf alleged that he was regularly harassed and beaten by them, which drove him to take the extreme step.
Sub-Inspector Pradeep Gurjar confirmed the discovery of the note and said the handwriting would be sent for forensic examination. Statements from all family members will also be recorded to determine the circumstances leading to the suicide.
Deceased was youngest among 4 brothers
Musharraf was the youngest among four brothers and had five sisters. His brother Mohammad Bilal offered a different account, claiming that a dispute with their alcoholic father might have triggered the incident. According to Bilal, Musharraf often opposed their father’s drinking habits, and the two had a heated argument before the tragedy occurred.
Police are continuing their investigation and looking into all possible angles. After post-mortem formalities, the body was handed over to the family on Sunday. The incident has shocked the local community and raised serious questions about domestic tensions and mental health issues.
