Kollam, Mar 6 (UNI) The four-day CPI(M) State Conference will begin with the inauguration of Delegate Meet by Politburo member and Central Committee Coordinator Prakash Karat at the at Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Nagar (C. Keshavan Smaraka Town Hall) the main venue of the conference, here on Thursday.
The conference proceedings will begin after hoisting party flag by senior CPI(M) leader AK Balan and offering floral tributes by others at the the martyrs’ column.
A total of 530 delegates including 75 women will take part in the delegate conference where Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will present the policy document on ‘Nava Kerala. Party State Secretary MV Govindan will present the report.
Earlier, marking the formal begining of the Party’s State conference, Chairman of the Reception Committe K. N. Balagopal, who is also Kerala Finance Minister, hoisted the party flag in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI (M) State Secretary M.V. Govindan at the Ashram Maidan (Sitaram Yechury Nagar) on the birthday of Russian revolutionary Joseph Stalin, on Wednesday evening.
The State conference is being held ahead of the 24th CPI(M) Party Congress to be held from April 2 to 6 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
The party State conference will conclude with a red volunteer march of 25,000 workers and a public meeting at Sitaram Yechury Nagar (Asramam Maidan) on March 9 (Sunday) evening.
Politburo members Brinda Karat, Subhashini Ali, B V Raghavulu, Ashok Dhawale, M A Baby and A Vijayaraghavan will attend all the sessions of the delegate meet.
