Constitution is India’s biggest weapon: Rahul Gandhi on Republic Day

‎New Delhi, Jan 26 (UNI) ‎Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Monday underscored the centrality of the Constitution to India’s democracy, describing it as the “biggest weapon” of every citizen and calling its protection essential to safeguarding the Republic.

‎In a message shared on his WhatsApp channel on the occasion of Republic Day, Gandhi said the strength of the Indian Republic rests on the firm foundation of the Constitution and can grow only through equality and harmony.

‎“Hamara Samvidhan har Bharatiya ka sabse bada hathiyar hai, yahi hamari awaaz hai, hamare adhikaron ka suraksha-kavach,” Rahul Gandhi said, stressing that the Constitution empowers citizens and protects their rights.

‎He added that the Republic draws its resilience from constitutional values. “Isi ki mazboot neev par hamara Ganatantra khada hai jo samanta aur sauhaard se hi sashakt hoga,” he said.

‎Linking constitutional protection to the legacy of the freedom struggle, the Congress leader said defending the Constitution was the truest tribute to India’s freedom fighters. “Samvidhan ki raksha hi, Bharatiya Ganatantra ki raksha hai, hamare swatantrata senaniyon ke balidaanon ko sacchi shraddhanjali hai,” Gandhi said.

‎Extending greetings to citizens across the country, he concluded his message with the slogans, “Jai Hind! Jai Samvidhan!”

‎Republic Day, observed on January 26 each year, commemorates the coming into force of the Constitution of India in 1950. Rahul Gandhi’s remarks come amid an ongoing political debate over constitutional values, social equality, and the role of democratic institutions in contemporary India.
