Bhopal: Under the Congress party’s ongoing ‘Booth Chalo, Gaon Chalo’ campaign, a Gram Panchayat Congress Committee was formally constituted on Saturday at Bhilakhedi village in Nim Sadiya panchayat of Narmadapuram district. Ranjit Chaudhary was appointed president of the newly formed committee, while key responsibilities were assigned to representatives from the Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, NSUI, SC, ST, OBC, Minority, Social Media, Bal Congress, Kisan Congress, Seva Dal and BLA wings.
The programme was attended by district in-charge Om Patel, district Congress president Shivkant Pandey, senior leaders and party workers. A Kisan Samvad was also organised, focusing on farmers’ issues and alleged anti-people government policies.
Later, Pradesh Congress Committee president Jeetu Patwari strongly criticised the state government over the Indore incident, terming the arrest of Congress leaders “an assault on democracy”. He announced a statewide protest and warned of a major agitation in Indore on January 11 if minister Kailash Vijayvargiya does not resign.
