Congress warns of impending water crisis in Bhopal

By Special Correspondent

Bhopal: Congress spokesperson Abhinav Baroliya on Friday highlighted a serious lapse in civic management, pointing to a spot between the Governor House and the Chief Minister’s residence where sewage water from the Banganga slum area is allegedly mixing with the fresh drinking water supply.

Baroliya said the situation on the ground clearly shows a leaking water pipeline half-submerged in a sewage line, with the pressure of the supply line forcing water to gush out, raising fears of large-scale contamination.

Warning of grave consequences, he said the day was not far when residents of Bhopal could face a crisis similar to the one currently confronting Indore due to polluted water.

The Congress spokesperson also alleged administrative apathy, claiming that repeated calls to the Municipal Commissioner went unanswered, reflecting the authorities’ indifference to a serious public health risk.
