Congress to move SC over Vijaypur verdict: Patwari

By Special Correspondent

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Jeetu Patwari on Monday said the party would challenge in the Supreme Court the court decision that nullified the election of Vijaypur MLA Mukesh Malhotra and declared the defeated BJP candidate as the winner.

Addressing mediapersons at his residence in Bhopal, Patwari alleged that the Congress candidate, who had won the election by thousands of votes, had been unseated while the candidate who had lost the poll had been declared the MLA.

He claimed that the BJP had succeeded in getting a tribal Congress legislator removed from office and replacing him with the defeated candidate. Patwari termed the development “the beginning of the end” for the ruling party.

The Congress leader further alleged that the BJP was uncomfortable with a tribal leader winning from a general seat and accused it of being anti-Dalit and anti-tribal.

Patwari said the party had full faith in the Supreme Court and would seek legal remedy there.
