Bhopal: Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Umang Singhar has reacted to the decision of the Gwalior Bench of the High Court declaring the election of Vijaypur Congress MLA Mukesh Malhotra void.

In a statement, Singhar said the court had set aside Malhotra’s election on the grounds that incomplete information had been provided in the election affidavit. He added that the Congress party respects the judiciary and its decisions.

However, he said the party would study the judgment in detail and consult legal experts before deciding its next course of action. According to Singhar, the Congress plans to challenge the verdict in the Supreme Court after taking proper legal advice.

He further stated that the people of Vijaypur had given their mandate to the Congress party and continue to stand with it. Expressing confidence in the judicial process, Singhar said the party hopes to receive justice from the Supreme Court.
