Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Congress Social Media Department staged a strong protest outside the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) office in Bhopal, condemning the recent attack on State Congress President Jeetu Patwari in Ratlam. Party workers burnt an effigy of the BJP government to register their anger.
The protest was led by Department General Secretary Dhanji Giri, who alleged that the BJP government was resorting to conspiracies and physical attacks to silence the voice of the opposition. He said that the assault on Patwari was not merely an attack on an individual but an attack on democracy itself, showing that the ruling dispensation was fearful of the people’s strength.
Congress leader Aman Pathan remarked that the incident was an assault on every citizen who dares to oppose the government’s “wrong policies.” He asserted that the party would continue its struggle from the streets to the assembly.
The demonstration witnessed the participation of several Congress leaders including Abhishek Soni, Asif Mirza, Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Tomar and Ravi Parmar, along with a large number of workers.
Meanwhile, the Bhopal District Congress Committee, under the leadership of District President Praveen Saxena, held another protest at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi near Minto Hall. Leaders alleged that the attack was carried out under the protection of the BJP government.
Former Minister P.C. Sharma, J.P. Dhanopia, Leader of Opposition in the Municipal Corporation Sabista Zaki, Councillor Guddu Chauhan, State Spokesperson Abhinav Baroliya and others attended. They resolved that such “cowardly attacks” would not deter the Congress, and pledged to intensify their fight against drug mafias and electoral malpractice.
