Congress slams BJP MLA over ‘Civil War’ remark

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee has strongly criticised Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Panna Lal Shakya for his controversial remark suggesting that the nation could face conditions akin to a civil war. Congress termed the statement “shameful” and “unfortunate” for the unity and integrity of India.

Abhay Tiwari, Congress General Secretary and Communications in-charge, said the MLA’s words insult both the Indian Army and the democratic system. He alleged that by proposing military training for children, Shakya had undermined the dignity of the armed forces.

Tiwari stressed that the Indian Army is among the most disciplined and capable in the world, dedicated solely to national security and honour. “Dragging the army into a political agenda is unacceptable,” he declared.

Accusing the BJP of corruption, commission-seeking practices and anti-people policies, the Congress leader said the public is increasingly disillusioned with the ruling party. According to him, such controversial statements are a diversionary tactic to distract from governance failures.

Tiwari asserted that any attempt to push the nation towards internal conflict would be firmly resisted. He reiterated Congress’s commitment to safeguarding democracy and defending the values of unity and peace.
