Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress spokesperson Rahul Raj has strongly criticised Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s government, alleging that it has completely failed to deliver on its commitments to farmers, particularly regarding uninterrupted electricity supply and fair crop procurement.
Rahul Raj said that despite former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s repeated claims of providing 24-hour electricity to farmers, the reality on the ground tells a different story. Farmers, he noted, are receiving power for only five to seven hours a day, mostly during the night, which forces them to tend to their fields under difficult conditions. “If the government truly provides continuous electricity, why is it not available during the daytime?” he questioned.
The Congress leader referred to a recent government order warning officials of disciplinary action if farmers receive electricity for more than ten hours, calling it “a reflection of the government’s bias towards private power companies and industrialists rather than farmers’ welfare.”
He further accused the BJP government of neglecting key farmer welfare schemes, including crop insurance, fertiliser distribution, and Navratra bonus payments, and said that even after 25 years in power, the party has failed to build infrastructure that supports sustainable agriculture.
Rahul Raj also criticised the government’s reluctance to procure soyabean, despite previous promises to expand the scheme, leaving maize and cotton farmers in distress. “The Mohan Yadav government has proved itself to be completely anti-farmer,” he declared, demanding immediate corrective measures to protect farmers’ interests.
