Bhopal: As part of the ongoing ‘Booth Chalo, Gaon Chalo’ campaign, the Congress party on Monday constituted a Gram Panchayat Congress Committee in village Tarabli of Raisen district under the leadership of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Jeetu Patwari. The programme reaffirmed the party’s resolve to further strengthen its organisation at the grassroots level.
Senior leaders present included Raisen District Congress Committee president Devendra Patel, Bhopal Rural District Congress Committee president Anokhi Patel, former MLA Devendra Patel, state spokesperson Anand Jat, Rahul Raj, state secretary Vishnu Vishwakarma, and other Congress leaders, along with block-level office-bearers, booth-level agents (BLAs) and a large number of party workers.
Later in the day, at Bhojpur, Patwari flagged off the state-level ‘Kisan Jan Andolan Yatra’, organised by the Pradesh Kisan Congress to protest against alleged injustice to farmers. Led by Pradesh Kisan Congress president Dharmendra Singh Chauhan, the yatra will cover every विधानसभा constituency and block across the state to highlight farmers’ pressing issues and expose what the party termed the BJP government’s anti-people policies.
Addressing the gathering, Patwari accused the BJP of betraying its election promises to farmers and women. He alleged that while promises were made to procure paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal and wheat at Rs 2,700, farmers have not received the assured prices. He asserted that the Congress would fight for the rights of farmers, women and the common people from villages to the legislature, holding the government accountable.
