Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Congress Freedom Fighters’ Families Cell, in association with the Congress Seva Dal, organised a tribute programme in Bhopal on Friday to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The event was held to honour the life, values and legacy of the Father of the Nation.
As part of the programme, a foot march was taken out from the statue of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to Minto Hall at the Old Vidhan Sabha, where participants paid floral tributes at Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. Congress leaders, party workers and descendants of freedom fighters joined the march and offered their respects to Bapu.
State president of the Freedom Fighters’ Families Cell Ajay Sitalani, Seva Dal state chief Avinash Bhargava and several senior Congress leaders were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, speakers said Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence and social justice were even more relevant today. They reaffirmed the Congress party’s commitment to safeguarding democracy, the Constitution and national unity by following Gandhian principles.
