Congress leader conducts on-ground review of SIR process

Bhopal: The ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bhopal’s Narela constituency has led to inconvenience for both voters and Booth Level Officers (BLOs). While BJP leaders have largely limited themselves to issuing statements, Congress leader Manoj Shukla adopted a more hands-on approach on Tuesday by travelling across the constituency on a scooter to meet BLOs working at various booths.

Shukla visited dozens of booths, interacting directly with BLOs to understand the difficulties they are facing in the SIR process. In a symbolic gesture of appreciation, he honoured women BLOs with coconuts and male BLOs with roses. He also reviewed the progress of the voter list verification work on the ground.

Accompanied by party colleagues, Shukla held conversations with both officials and local residents. He highlighted concerns among minority communities regarding the SIR and assured them that there was no need for fear if proper documentation was provided. He alleged that attempts were being made to disproportionately remove names from minority-dominated localities and urged citizens to remain vigilant and submit all valid proofs to ensure their names are not excluded from the voter list.

Shukla called upon BLOs to carry out their duties lawfully and without undue influence.

Former councillor Mahmood Anwar Guddu, Amit Khatri, Tariq Ali, Vijendra Shukla, Anas Ur Rehman, Ahmed Khan, Mohd Amir, Almas Ali, Aleem Uddin, Faizan Khan, Sandeep Sarvaiya, Amjad Lala, Qazi Asif, Shanu Khan, Faheem Bakhsh and Anup Pandey were among those present during the visit.
