Bhopal: A crucial meeting of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Coordination Committee, formed to review the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, was held at the State Congress Office on Wednesday. The session was attended by State Congress In-charge Harish Chaudhary and Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jeetu Patwari.

The meeting discussed in detail the alleged irregularities and technical glitches emerging from the Election Commission’s SIR process. Senior Congress leaders emphasised the need for party workers to approach the exercise with full seriousness and responsibility.

Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, State Co-Incharge Sanjay Dutt, Committee Chairman Sajjan Singh Verma, Organisation General Secretary Dr Sanjay Kamle, Organisation Vice-President Sukhdev Panse, Connect Centre In-charge Rajeev Singh, senior leader JP Dhanopia and other committee members were present.

Jeetu Patwari expressed concern over the irregularities, stating, “The SIR process implemented by the Government of India has been fraught with complaints. The Booth Level Agents (BLAs) were to begin door-to-door verification from 4 November, but the work remains incomplete in nearly 70% of the areas. The government, the Election Commission, and administrative officials are failing to fulfil their responsibilities on time.”

He added that the Congress has submitted five delegations to the Election Commission so far, yet the issues remain unresolved. “The manner in which the Commission is conducting the SIR process is unjust to the common citizen. The Congress will ensure that not a single voter’s name is removed from the electoral list,” he affirmed.

Patwari further announced that Assembly-level in-charges and BLAs have been appointed, and their online training will commence shortly. He demanded that the Election Commission provide Congress BLAs with voter lists from 2003 and 2024, along with family and historical voter records, and rectify all identified discrepancies immediately.

“Congress is fully vigilant,” he asserted. “We will not allow any citizen’s vote to be deleted. Our workers are active in over 1,000 blocks, determined to thwart the BJP’s conspiracy and ensure justice for every voter.”
