Congress holds CM accountable for Ujjain police tragedy

Bhopal: The death of three police personnel in Ujjain has triggered widespread outrage across Madhya Pradesh, with the Congress party directly blaming Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for administrative negligence.

According to reports, the tragedy occurred when a government vehicle failed to start, and lack of barricading and lighting on a bridge led to the fatal incident. The Congress has termed this not merely an accident but “a glaring proof of government failure.”

Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jeetu Patwari alleged that since Chief Minister Yadav assumed charge of the Home Ministry, the police have been left “to fend for themselves.” He cited a series of recent incidents—attacks on police patrols in Gwalior, theft of a police motorbike from Indore, and casualties due to inadequate safety arrangements in Sagar and Bhind—as evidence of systemic collapse.

Patwari demanded a judicial probe into the Ujjain case, strict action against responsible officials, adequate resources for the police, and suitable compensation with jobs for the families of the deceased officers.

He warned that if the government failed to act, the Congress would take the matter “from the streets to the Assembly” to hold the Chief Minister accountable.
