Congress forms committee to prevent irregularities in voters list

Mumbai, July 6 (UNI) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Harshvardhan Sapkal today said that the party has formed a committee to suggest solutions to prevent incidents of irregularities in the voters list happening again.

He alleged that it has been revealed that BJP has won the state assembly elections by manipulating the voters list in various ways.

“The BJP came to power through theft with the help of the Election Commission of India that’s why we have formed a committee to suggest solutions to prevent such incidents from happening again,” he said.

This committee has a total of seven members, headed by former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. The committee includes All India Congress Committee Secretary Praful Gudde Patil, former minister Ashokrao Patil, State General Secretary Rajesh Sharma, Assembly candidates Dhananjay Shirish Chaudhary, Parikshit Virendra Jagtap and its coordinator is State Congress General Secretary Abhay Chhajed.

The Congress party has formally filed a complaint with the Election Commission regarding irregularities in the voters list, but the Commission has not yet given a satisfactory explanation, he said.

“The BJP is using unfair means to win the elections and large-scale frauds are being committed in the voters’ lists. To stop all this, this committee will study and submit a report to the state Congress,” Sapkal added.
