Congress demands MSP reforms in MP

By Special Correspondent

Bhopal: All India Congress Committee secretary and former MLA Kunal Choudhary on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led state and Union governments, alleging that their policies are harming farmers. Addressing a press conference in Bhopal, he claimed procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP) remains flawed and accused the government of misleading farmers by raising the promised bonus marginally instead of the assured Rs 575 per quintal.

Choudhary criticised the postponement of wheat procurement from March 16 to April 1, saying it would inconvenience farmers. He demanded that procurement continue until April 30 to ensure fair opportunity.

Targeting Union Agriculture Minister, he alleged neglect of farmers’ interests. He also warned that international trade deals and rising input costs could further strain farmers.

The Congress leader called for immediate procurement, transparency in MSP operations, and relief from debt burdens, warning of statewide protests if demands remain unmet. Former spokespersons Rahul Raj and Vivek Tripathi were also present on the occasion.
