Indore: Congress councillor Anwar Qadri and his associate Rashid Baba have been arrested and sent to jail in connection with allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans during a recent protest. The protest was held to condemn the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and honor the martyred soldiers. However, the event took a controversial turn when chants of “Pakistan Zindabad” were reportedly heard, triggering outrage.

A video of the incident, which took place in the Barwali Chowki area, quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread condemnation. Following the video’s circulation, Sadar Bazaar police registered a case under charges including sedition against unidentified individuals.

The incident led to strong reactions from Hindu organizations, who staged demonstrations outside Sadar Bazaar police station demanding immediate action against Qadri. Protests also erupted in various parts of the city. Local MLA Golu Shukla joined the chorus, urging strict action.

On Friday, based on video footage and technical evidence, police arrested Qadri and Baba and presented them in court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

Sadar Bazaar Police Station in-charge Yashwant Badole confirmed the arrests and emphasized that the investigation is ongoing. He stated that more suspects have been identified and that further arrests and legal action will follow based on the seriousness of the case.
