Congress chief says BJP Govt has failed to ensure women’s safety

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jeetu Patwari has strongly condemned the remarks made by State Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya regarding the harassment incident involving foreign women cricketers in Indore. The Minister had advised international players to inform local authorities and take precautions before stepping out of their hotels. Patwari termed this statement as clear evidence of the government’s failure to ensure women’s safety.

Patwari questioned the logic behind the Minister’s comment, asking, “If a foreign woman cricketer wishes to go out or interact with locals, how many female constables will accompany her? The Minister’s words clearly admit that the government is incapable of providing adequate protection.” He added that suggesting players cannot move freely without risk exposes a state of ‘complete lawlessness’.

“The BJP government, which claims to prioritise women’s safety, has utterly failed to uphold it. This incident exposes the double standards and hollow promises of the ruling party,” Patwari said. “When a Minister himself implies that women are unsafe if they move openly, it reflects the collapse of law and order under BJP rule.”

The Congress leader has demanded an impartial investigation into the incident and immediate punishment for the culprits. He urged the government to take concrete measures to strengthen women’s safety instead of shifting the responsibility onto victims. Patwari reaffirmed that the Congress Party would continue to fight for women’s rights and expose the government’s negligence on this critical issue.
