Congress Blames BJP for fueling caste divide

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Department Chairman Dr Mukesh Nayak, while addressing a press briefing, welcomed the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s decision to take suo motu cognisance of the shocking and inhuman incident that occurred in Satariya village of Damoh district. The High Court termed the act “deeply disturbing” and stated that serious criminal cases must be registered against the culprits.

Dr Nayak said the incident not only exposed an act of cruelty but also highlighted how the BJP government has allowed the social fabric to deteriorate for political gain by fuelling caste-based hostility.

Incident Summary:

According to Dr Nayak, villagers in Satariya had imposed a fine on those consuming alcohol. Anuj Pandey, who sold liquor, apologised publicly, and the matter was considered settled. However, later, a villager named Purushottam Kushwaha created a misleading video using Artificial Intelligence, portraying Pandey wearing a garland of shoes.

Angered by the video, Pandey and his family forced Kushwaha to drink dirty water in public — an act described by Dr Nayak as “a crime against humanity and a blatant violation of the Constitution.”

Political Manipulation Alleged:

Dr Nayak accused BJP leaders of portraying the incident as a clash between two communities to gain political mileage. He said, “Both Anuj Pandey and Purushottam Kushwaha committed offences — one by selling liquor, another by creating a fake AI video. None represents any caste or community.”

Drawing parallels with the Gwalior incident where a man made derogatory remarks against Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Dr Nayak said BJP continuously encourages such divisive elements to weaken social harmony.

Demands:

1. Register serious criminal charges against Anuj Pandey as per HC orders.

2. Book Purushottam Kushwaha under cybercrime laws.

3. Take immediate steps to restore social harmony.

4. Act firmly against those inciting caste-based hatred.

“This is not a mere personal dispute but a reflection of institutional casteism spreading under BJP rule,” Dr Nayak concluded.
