New Delhi, Dec 18 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks involving BR Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha while speaking on 75 years journey of Constitution has sparked a major clash between BJP and Congress with the latter accusing the Minister of insulting the chief architect of the Indian Constitution.
Both Houses of the Parliament on Wednesday witnessed massive protests by Congress and its INDIA bloc leaders over the alleged disrespect to Ambedkar by the top minister of the Modi government.
Not only the issue today paralysed the proceedings of the Parliament, leader of Opposition (LoP) in Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has demanded ouster of Amit Shah from the Cabinet. INDIA bloc partners have also been agitating against the ‘insult of Ambedkar.’
As the Opposition tried to corner Shah over the raging issue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself came out in support of the Home Minister and counter-attacked the Congress party.
Meanwhile, Kharge in a press conference demanded the sacking of Amit Shah before midnight saying that a person who insults Baba Saheb has no right to remain in the Cabinet.
He also slammed the Prime Minister for not reprimanding Shah but on the contrary, he came out in support of cabinet colleague.
The Congress Chief also warned that if Amit Shah is not removed from the Cabinet, then there will be protests across the country.
While responding to the opposition protest against Amit Shah Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a series of tweets came out in support of Shah.
Slamming the Congress, Modi said, ‘one party, led by one dynasty, has indulged in every possible dirty trick to obliterate the legacy of Dr Ambedkar’.
He said, “In Parliament, HM @AmitShah Ji exposed the Congress’ dark history of insulting Dr. Ambedkar and ignoring the SC/ST Communities. They are clearly stung and stunned by the facts he presented, which is why they are now indulging in theatrics! Sadly, for them, people know the truth”.
Addressing a press conference Amit Shah alleged that Congress has been presenting the facts in a distorted way. Congress is against Dr BR Ambedkar, reservation and the Constitution. Congress also insulted Veer Savarkar. By imposing Emergency, they violated all Constitutional values.
Shah said that during the discussion on Constitution, the BJP speakers established in Parliament that Congress is anti-Ambedkar, anti-reservation, anti-Constitution.
He said that, Congress leaders have awarded Bharat Ratna to themselves many times. But Baba Saheb got Bharat Ratna in 1990 when Congress was not in power and there was a BJP supported government.
It may be mentioned that on Tuesday, the Congress has been demanding an apology from Shah by terming some parts of his speech during the discussion on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha as objectionable.
