Congress alleges irregularities in voter survey work

Bhopal: Serious irregularities have been reported in the ongoing voter verification survey being conducted under the directives of the Central Election Commission in Bhopal. In the Narela Assembly constituency, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were allegedly found working from the houses of BJP leaders instead of their designated locations.

According to reports, as per the Election Commission’s guidelines, voters should be provided with two application forms, but several BLOs were distributing only one and instructing citizens to make photocopies at their own expense. Upon receiving complaints, Congress leader Manoj Shukla reached the spot and questioned the BLOs about the irregularities.

At Booth No. 210, BLO Devendra Jatav was found giving only one form instead of two, while BLO Hemant Kumar Yadav from Booth No. 201 was reportedly absent from duty. When satisfactory answers were not provided, Shukla informed Sub-Divisional Election Officer Bhuvan Gupta over the phone, who assured prompt action.

Several supervisors confirmed to Gupta that BLOs were not following the prescribed procedures and were distributing forms as per their discretion. Shukla alleged that, at the behest of the BJP, BLOs in Muslim-majority areas of Narela were deliberately excluding certain voters from the survey to remove their names from the electoral rolls.

Shukla has lodged a formal complaint with the Central Election Commission and demanded strict action from District Election Officer and Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh against the erring officials.

Present on the occasion were Ahmed Khan, Tariq Ali, Faheem Bakhsh, Amit Khatri, Vijendra Shukla, Anas-ur-Rehman, Amjad Lala, Anup Pandey, Aleem Uddin, Qazi Asif, and Junaid Khan.
