- Seeks probe into alleged transport scam
Bhopal: A delegation of Congress MLAs led by Madhya Pradesh Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar met the Lokayukta and handed over documents related to the transport scam. The Congress delegation has demanded an investigation against former minister Govind Singh Rajput as well as confiscation of his properties. In the memorandum, he said that Govind Singh Rajput has purchased hundreds of acres of land in his name, his wife’s, sons’ and relatives’ names.
Umang Singhar said that the budget of transport is Rs 150-200 crore and the scam is of Rs 5 thousand crore. Gold bricks are being found and the investigating agency is not even able to tell whose these are. He alleged that property worth crores of rupees was purchased through corruption. We have given evidence to the Lokayukta. The Lokayukta has assured to conduct an investigation. Umang said that the public’s money should be accounted for.
The CAG report has revealed major irregularities in MP. Irregularities have been found in the funeral and ex-gratia amount of registered employees in Madhya Pradesh. Information has come to light that this amount is being deposited in other accounts instead of the bank accounts of the family members of the workers. Also, irregularities in many schemes have been revealed in the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
