Cong submits memo to AIIMS over negligence

By Special Correspondent

Bhopal: Senior Congress leaders on Thursday raised serious concerns over alleged administrative lapses at AIIMS Bhopal and submitted a memorandum to the hospital authorities. Former Cabinet Minister P.C. Sharma, along with Madhya Pradesh Congress Slum Cell president Nikesh Ishwar Singh Chauhan and MP Youth Congress state secretary Aniket Dwivedi, met the Deputy Director (Administration), Sandesh Kumar Jain.

The delegation questioned the AIIMS administration over the recent death of Dr Rashmi Verma, alleging continued negligence and lack of accountability. Congress leaders claimed that patients are still struggling to get admitted, emergency services remain inadequate, and delays have allegedly resulted in avoidable deaths.

They further alleged that private security staff behave rudely with patients and attendants, while many diagnostic tests are unavailable in-house, forcing patients to seek costly investigations outside. Even internal tests, they said, involve excessive delays.

Sharma alleged that Dr Verma’s death has exposed internal discord, negligence and black-marketing practices. He warned that if justice is not delivered promptly, Congress and its frontal organisations will launch a large-scale protest by gheraoing AIIMS Bhopal.
