Cong slams PM over 26/11 remarks, says ‘govt not run by reading Chandamama’

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Congress leader Pawan Khera today criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his recent remarks on the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, saying the government’s approach towards Pakistan has become too soft.

“Modi ji, the government is not run by reading Chandamama,” Khera said in a post on X, referring to the popular children’s comic book.

“After the 26/11 attacks, the dossier that India prepared isolated Pakistan from the entire world and even got it on the FATF list.”

PM Modi has recently said that the UPA government did not attack Pakistan after the 26/11 terror attacks in 2008 “because of pressure exerted by some country.”

Khera’s remarks come in response to PM Modi’s recent statement questioning Congress stance on the 26/11 attacks. “Not like today, where General Munir is being invited to dine by Trump,” Khera added.

“The terrorists were killed right there, and the one terrorist who was caught alive was also given punishment,” Khera said, emphasising the previous government’s strong stance against terrorism.

This statement underscores the ongoing debate between the Congress and the BJP over how to handle Pakistan and terrorism

The Prime Minister had attributed the remarks to a “senior Congress leader, who even served as a Home Minister,” and did not name P Chidambaram though his reference was obvious.

Reacting to PM Modi’s remarks, Chidambaram took to his X handle, “I quote the Hon’ble PM’s words (as reported in ToI): “…..has said India was ready to respond after 26/11, but because of the pressure exerted by some country, then Congress govt stopped India’s armed forces from attacking Pakistan.”

“The statement has three parts, and each one of them is WRONG, terribly WRONG It is disappointing to read that the Hon’ble prime minister of India imagined the words and attributed them to me.”
