Cong protests in Delhi over minor’s assault case and law & order concerns

New Delhi, Jan 4 (UNI) Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Devender Yadav on Sunday staged a protest at the Durga Chowk Police Station in the Bhalswa Dairy area against the Delhi government and police over law and order issues.

Delhi Congress demanded the arrest of a temple priest accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

Yadav stated that a First Information Report (FIR) was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act six months ago following a court order, but the accused wasn’t arrested. He alleged that the delay endangered the victim’s safety and implied the accused had political protection.

“After the court’s order, the police registered the case but have not arrested the guilty. What kind of rule is this?” Yadav said. He claimed the incident reflects a deteriorating law and order situation in the capital, with rising crimes against women and minors.
