Cong presses SIT for swift action in slaughter house case

By Special Correspondent

Bhopal: A delegation of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday met the head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) at Habibganj police station over the serious and sensitive slaughter house incident. The delegation, led by state general secretary Amit Sharma, formally submitted documents, factual details and public concerns related to the case.

The Congress leaders expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of investigation, noting that more than a month had passed since the matter came to light. They alleged that initial findings pointed to cow slaughter and blatant violations of rules at the facility, calling it an affront to law, constitutional values and social norms.

The delegation also questioned the role of senior officials of the municipal corporation and the mayor, stating that despite serious allegations, no concrete action had been taken against them, suggesting attempts to shield those responsible. Documents seeking fixation of administrative accountability were handed over to the SIT.

Amit Sharma said limiting the probe to junior staff or contractors while protecting those in positions of power would undermine justice. The Congress demanded a fair, transparent and time-bound investigation and warned of protests from the streets to the Assembly if delays continued.
