Bhopal: A joint press conference held at the Madhya Pradesh Congress office on Friday saw senior leaders launching a scathing attack on the State government over what they described as a series of grave irregularities spanning the health sector, government schools and the free laptop distribution scheme.
Former minister and Raghogarh MLA Jaivardhan Singh alleged a massive scam worth Rs 943 crore in the Health Department’s outsourced pathology services. He said the department had placed a record of 68,000 pages before the Assembly, and preliminary scrutiny revealed shocking inconsistencies — including 12.84 crore tests shown for a population of just 7 crore, inflated billing, and fraudulently generated reports without conducting tests at PHCs, CHCs and block hospitals.
Singh further claimed that two companies owned by the same individual received separate tenders, different rates were applied to identical tests, and 18% GST was charged on zero-GST health services. He said the same company, previously raided by the ED and Income Tax Department, was nevertheless granted a one-year extension by the government in July 2025. Calling it “a crime against the health of Madhya Pradesh’s people”, he demanded a CBI probe.
MLA Devendra Patel highlighted disturbing violations of children’s rights in government schools in Raisen district, citing instances of young students being made to sweep floors, irregular school functioning with premises locked for several days a week, and teachers frequently absent. He said these actions violated the RTE Act 2009 and norms of the School Education Department, SCERT, DIOS and the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. Patel confirmed that he had filed written complaints with the NCPCR, NHRC and senior government authorities, demanding immediate suspension of erring officials and a district-wide inquiry.
MLA Rishi Agrawal alleged a significant fraud in the free laptop scheme, claiming that fake accounts were created in the names of 34 students at Fatehgarh Sandeepani School in Guna, with funds diverted elsewhere including one case where a Shivpuri student’s amount was transferred to an account in Bihar.
NSUI national spokesperson Viraj Yadav warned that if action is not taken within 30 days, the organisation will launch an intense statewide agitation to protect students’ rights.
