Bhopal: With the objective of further strengthening India’s democracy and ensuring complete transparency in the electoral process, the Congress party on Monday held an important meeting at its headquarters in New Delhi to deliberate on voter list verification.
Addressing the meeting, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh underlined the critical importance of voter list verification, detailing its procedures and presenting a comprehensive action plan for effective implementation at the grassroots level. He stressed that free, fair and transparent elections form the bedrock of democracy and asserted that any negligence or irregularity in the electoral process was unacceptable.
The meeting was attended by several senior leaders, including Pradesh Congress in-charge Harish Chaudhary, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Jitu Patwari, Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar, Telangana in-charge and former MP Meenakshi Natarajan, national secretary and Madhya Pradesh co-incharge Chandan Yadav, and Usha Naidu.
It was decided that in the coming period, the party would ensure close coordination across all organisational levels to carry out voter list verification with seriousness and accountability. The focus, leaders said, would be on ensuring that every eligible citizen’s name is included in the electoral rolls and that any discrepancies are identified and addressed in a timely manner.
The Congress reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding democracy, upholding constitutional values, and strengthening citizens’ voting rights.
