- Political turmoil over alleged nursing scam
Bhopal: The political climate in Madhya Pradesh is intensely charged due to the alleged nursing scam, with the Congress party adopting an aggressive stance. The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee has launched a campaign against Vishwas Sarang, a cabinet minister in the Mohan government, demanding that an FIR be filed against him. Former Digvijaya Singh is spearheading the effort, leading Congress leaders in a march to the Ashoka Garden police station to file a case against Sarang. Singh also expressed his outrage upon witnessing a Sundarkand recitation taking place in the police station.
Cong workers gherao police station
On Thursday, Congress leaders surrounded the Ashoka Garden police station in Bhopal, demanding an FIR against Cabinet Minister Vishwas Sarang over the alleged nursing scam. The march, led by Congress state president Jitu Patwari, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, and former Digvijaya Singh, culminated at the police station.
Tight Security Arrangements
In anticipation of the protest, heavy security was deployed around the police station. The police prevented Congress workers from entering the station, leading to a sit-in protest outside.
Singh highlighted the corruption involved in recognizing nursing colleges, alleging that many were granted recognition despite being ineligible, thus wronging nursing students. He demanded that Vishwas Sarang resign, face corruption charges, and be arrested.
Protest disrupted by Sundarkand recitation
Upon arriving at the police station, Digvijaya Singh was angered to see Sundarkand recitation, allegedly organized by BJP workers, taking place. Singh questioned the police station in-charge about the ceremony and was told it was an official event. In response, Singh sarcastically suggested that other religious observances, like Guru Nanak Jayanti and Eid, should also be celebrated in police stations.
