Cong demands regulation of private coaching centres

New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) Congress on Saturday demanded regulation of private coaching centres across the country, accusing them of resorting to crass profiteering and exploiting innocent and gullible people.

Addressing a press conference at the AICC office here, party leader Kanhaiya Kumar said that the coaching institutes had mushroomed across the country and were exploiting students and “some of them even vanishing within no time after charging hefty fees”.

Kumar said that the youth of the country were driven so much towards desperation that students are committing suicide in the country.

He said that the government should take responsibility for such alarming rate of students’ suicide as it is the result of systematic failure.

The Congress leader alleged that the system is creating too much pressure on students by selling them unrealistic dreams, which they are unable to fulfil because of lack of employment opportunities.

He also demanded that government must fill up all the vacancies in a transparent manner by conducting examinations in a fair manner.

Kumar alleged that there was a nexus between the government and the market forces to create a

culture of unfair competition.

The Congress leader asserted that the government must improve the state institutions to ensure that the private sector performs better.

He called for improving the public sector in the country, while observing, once the public sector starts functioning well, the private sector will also follow suit and fulfil its responsibility.
