CNG Low-Floor Buses back on Bhopal roads

  • Relief for commuters

Bhopal, Commuters in Bhopal received much-needed relief this week as the Bhopal City Link Limited (BCLL) resumed the operation of CNG low-floor buses after a long wait.

Starting Monday, 16 new CNG buses were deployed on the busy Bhaisakhedi to AIIMS route. BCLL reported that approximately 4,500 passengers utilized the services on the very first day, benefiting from modern ticketing, comfortable seating, and improved route coverage. The city’s current fleet of low-floor buses has increased from 60 to 76.

The service is set for further expansion, with plans to introduce another 16 buses on the Kokta to Ratibad route within the next ten days. The ultimate goal is to operate a total of 149 buses across the city, with 77 new units scheduled for induction in the next phase. These initial 16 buses are serving key areas like TT Nagar and Piplani, with each bus carrying an average of 250 to 300 passengers daily, significantly easing the burden on public transport.

“Earlier, traveling by auto-rickshaws and shared vehicles was very difficult. Now, the CNG buses are punctual and comfortable, making my commute much easier.”
