CM Yadav launches Cyber Security Drive as Digital Risks Soar

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav flagged off a cyber security awareness campaign on Wednesday, emphasizing that while digital technology has become an indispensable part of life, it has also brought a significant rise in cyber threats. The campaign, a collaborative effort between the Madhya Pradesh Police and the State Bank of India (SBI), aims to equip citizens with the knowledge to navigate the digital world safely.

The dual edge of digital advancement

During the flag-off ceremony, Dr. Yadav praised India’s leadership in digital payments under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. However, he cautioned that this progress has a downside. “Digital technology is now a crucial part of our lifestyle,” he said, “but the conveniences it offers can sometimes become challenges. Digital fraud and ‘digital arrests’ can cause significant social and economic harm.” The Chief Minister stressed the critical need for every online user to be vigilant and cautious with their bank accounts and social media profiles.

A social responsibility for all

Dr. Yadav lauded SBI for its initiative to educate customers on protecting their bank accounts from cyber threats. He described cyber security as a “social responsibility” and noted that the increasing use of technology has led to a rise in cybercrime. “While SBI is providing better services, it is also working to protect its customers from online digital threats,” he stated.

The Chief Minister urged every digital user to become a “financial sentinel”. He advised citizens to be cautious at every level, from securing their mobile screens with locks to maintaining the confidentiality of their passwords. He concluded by saying that a small amount of caution can prevent many cyber security challenges and that every conscious citizen can contribute to the security of both themselves and society.
