CM Yadav expresses deep grief over death of four Kanwariyas in Gwalior road accident

Bhopal : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of four Kanwariyas in a road accident during the holy Kanwar Yatra in the Bhitarwar Assembly constituency of Gwalior district. Paying tribute to the deceased, the Chief Minister prayed to Baba Mahakal for peace to their souls and for granting them a place at his feet. Extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has directed that an ex-gratia amount of Rs 4 lakh be provided to the next of kin of each of the deceased.

It is reported that in the early hours of July 22, 2025, between 12:30 and 1:00 a.m., a tragic road accident occurred at Sheetla Mata Mandir Chauraha on Shivpuri Link Road in Gwalior. An uncontrolled car hit six Kanwariyas, residents of Ghatigaon, resulting in the death of four and injuries to two others. The driver fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police. The Gwalior district administration has instructed medical teams to ensure free and quality treatment for the injured Kanwariyas. Additionally, the administration is extending all possible assistance to the victims and their families.

It is noteworthy that the deceased in the tragic road accident were residents of Ghatigaon. They have been identified as Shri Vakil, son of Girvar (40 years), Shri Ramesh, son of Pandey (38 years), Shri Dinesh, son of Betal (21 years), and Shri Chhotu, son of Antaram (18 years). In addition to the four fatalities, two other Kanwariyas sustained injuries in the incident.
