CM unveils Statue of Oneness in Omkareshwar

Also Lays Foundation of Advaita Lok

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today unveiled the 108 feet high Ashtadhatu Statue of Oneness of Adi Guru Shankaracharya along with the saint community on Mandhata Parvat at Omkareshwar in Khandwa district of MP. He laid the foundation stone of Advaita-Lok to be built at a cost of Rs 2,200 crore with auspicious rituals.

On this occasion, Minister in-charge of Khandwa district and Minister of Culture, Tourism, Religious Trust and Endowments, Usha Thakur, Swami Avadheshanand Ji Giri Maharaj, Parmatmanand Ji, Swami Swaroopanand Ji, Swami Tirthanand Ji Maharaj and about 5 thousand sadhus and saints from all over the country were present.

On the arrival of the saints at Omkareshwar, the guests were welcomed in the traditional style of Kerala. Artists of cultural dance groups from different states welcomed everyone to the spiritual abode by presenting dances of Shaiva tradition.

Features of Statue of Oneness

  • The name of the statue of Acharya Shankar installed in Ekatm Dham is Statue of Oneness.
  • The 108 feet Ashtadhatu idol depicts the child form of Acharya Shankar aged 12 years.
  • The base of the statue has a 75 feet pedestal.
  • This idol is installed on a 16 feet lotus made of stone.
  • The statue has been created under the guidance of sculptor Shri Bhagwan Rampure and painter Shri Vasudev Kamat.
  • 88 percent copper, 4 percent zinc and 8 percent tin have been used in the statue. The statue weighs 100 tons.
  • This statue has been made from a total of 290 panels.
  • 250 tonnes of high quality stainless steel has been used in the construction of the entire superstructure.
  • The concrete pedestals are designed to last up to 500 years.
