Jammu, Mar 8 (UNI) A pair of Chirag Dogra and Amar Jyoti Sharma have defeated Deepak Chib and Col S Pradeep in a well contested match to win UT Men’s Doubles Lawn Tennis final title of Jammu and Kashmir UT Lawn Tennis Open Championship played at the lawns of Maulana Azad Stadium here.
Jammu and Kashmir Sports Minister Satish Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
As per the results, in the UT Open Men’s Doubles Final, Chirag Dogra and Amar Jyoti Sharma defeated Deepak Chib and Col S Pradeep 7-6, (7-5), 3-6, 6-4.
Earlier in the semifinals, Chirag Dogra and Amar Sharma defeated Sojanya Thappa and Kuljeet Singh 8-4 while Deepak Chib and Col S Pradeep defeated Vikram Gupta and Raghav Sabharwal 8-6.
However, in the men’s singles final, Vikram Gupta defeated Shaurya Pratap Singh 6-3, 6-2.
Earlier Vikram Gupta defeated Chirag Dogra 8-7 (7-5) in tie break and Shaurya Pratap Singh defeated Gurleen Singh 8-2 to enter into the final round.
Sports Minister Satish Sharma while interacting with the players boosted them stating that the Jammu and Kashmir government is very keen to make this region a hub of sports and lot many things are in the pipeline to promote this sector.
He however, wished them for their future endeavours.
Players in various age groups from across the Jammu and Kashmir participated in the event.
President, Jammu and Kashmir Lawn Tennis Association, Murti Gupta was also present on the occasion while General Secretary, B S Jaggi along with Hanumant Singh supervised the tournament.
The Tournament was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Lawn Tennis Association (JKLTA) under the aegis of J&K Sports Council.
The tournament, as per the officials, is specifically designed for all age groups providing them with an opportunity to showcase their skills.
