Chinese manjha claims youth’s life in Indore

  • Deadly kite string: Student and child injured

Indore: The city witnessed another tragic incident highlighting the lethal danger posed by Chinese kite string, commonly known as manjha. A young man riding a motorcycle died after his throat was slit by the sharp string on Sunday evening. The accident occurred around 5:30 pm between Kanadiya and Tilak Nagar.

The deceased has been identified as Raghuveer Dhakad, a resident of Om Sai Vihar Colony in Bicholi Mardana. According to family members, Raghuveer worked as a tile contractor. Despite Sunday being a holiday, he had gone to inspect a work site.

While returning home on his motorcycle, he was hit by Chinese kite string near Shakuntala Hospital, causing severe injuries to his neck. Passersby alerted his family using his mobile phone, and he was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed during treatment.

Raghuveer’s family has already endured tragedy. One of their sons had died in a drowning accident two years ago. He is survived by another son, Sahil, who is currently a student. Tilak Nagar SHO Manish Lodha said that the matter is under investigation.

NEET aspirant sustains serious neck injuries

In a separate incident in Indore, Narendra Jamod, a NEET aspirant, sustained serious neck injuries after being struck by Chinese kite string on Sapna–Sangeeta Road around the same time. His friend rushed him to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

Child suffers severe injuries

Meanwhile, in Chhindwara district, a nine-year-old boy, Atharva Karade, suffered severe injuries to his ear while playing outside his house. Doctors had to put 43 stitches, and the child remains under observation.

These incidents once again raise serious concerns over the continued use of banned Chinese manjha and the urgent need for stricter enforcement.
