Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to visit India from August 18-20

New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will arrive in India on August 18 to participate in the 24th round of talks on the long-standing China-India boundary issue, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced on Saturday.

Wang Yi, who is also a Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and China’s Special Representative on the boundary question, will hold discussions with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, the India’s Special representative for the talks.

At the invitation of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit India on 18-19 August 2025,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement

Esternal Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar will also hold a bilateral meeting with Wang Yi.

“From August 18 to 20, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs and China’s Special Representative on the China-India boundary question Wang Yi will visit India and hold the 24th Round of Talks Between the Special Representatives of China and India on the Boundary Question at the invitation of the Indian side,” Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit China to attend the regional summit SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) in Tianjin city from August 31 to September 1.

PM Modi’s upcoming visit is seen as a significant step toward the gradual normalization of ties between the two Asian powers, which have remained strained since the Galwan Valley clash in 2020.

PM Modi’s last visit to China was in 2019. But he had met Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan in October 2024.
