Ujjain: Braving a heavy monsoon downpour, the grand procession of Lord Mahakal, known as the “Shahi Sawari,” captivated millions of devotees in Ujjain on Monday. The event was made even more special by the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, who performed a puja at the Mahakal Temple and joined the procession on foot, playing a traditional damaru.

The “King of Kings,” Lord Mahakal, gave divine darshan in six different forms, leaving devotees in awe. A breathtaking floral tribute was paid from a helicopter over the Shipra River’s Ramghat and from a drone within the temple complex, showering the palanquin with rose petals.

Hours before the procession began, thousands of devotees lined the route, chanting “Jai Mahakal.” The air was filled with the rhythmic sounds of bhajans, drums, and bands. As the palanquin was carried out of the temple, heavy rain began to fall, an event devotees saw as a divine cleansing of the path for the lord’s journey.

This being the sixth procession of the Shravan-Bhado months, Lord Mahakal appeared in six distinct forms: as Chandramouleshwar in the palanquin, Manmahesh on an elephant, Shiva Tandav on a Garuda chariot, Uma-Mahesh on a Nandi chariot, Holkar State on a Dola chariot, and Saptadhan on another chariot. The event concluded with the chief minister’s participation, underscoring the spiritual and cultural significance of the procession.
