Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh Feb 14 (UNI) Four jawans of the 201 CoBRA Battalion were killed, and one was critically injured in a road accident near Khapri Bypass in the Arjuni police station area of Dhamtari district.
The accident occurred when a car carrying the soldiers from Jagdalpur collided with a stationary truck on the roadside.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was completely destroyed. Rescue teams used gas cutters to extricate the trapped soldiers. Two jawans died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital. One jawan remains under medical treatment.
The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem at the district hospital and an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed profound grief over the incident.
He paid tribute to the CoBRA personnel who died in the accident and also extended condolences to the bereaved families.
He assured, “The injured would receive the best possible medical care. The state government has also promised full support to the families of the jawans.”
