Bijapur, May 17 (UNI) Following conclusion of the Karregutta operation aimed at eliminating Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, the police in Telangana’s Mulugu district have carried out a major crackdown on Naxal activities and have arrested 20 Naxals from various police station areas, including Wazed, Venkatapuram, and Kannigudem.
Those arrested include one Divisional Committee Member (DCM), five Area Committee Members (ACM), and 14 party members.
A significant haul of explosives and cash was also recovered, along with three INSAS rifles, four SLR rifles, and one .303 rifle.
This operation is seen as a crucial step towards weakening the Maoist network in the district.
Meanwhile, eight Maoists, including one DCM, six platoon members, and one jan militia member, have surrendered before the Mulugu district Superintendent of Police.
The surrendered Maoists will be provided assistance under the government’s rehabilitation policy.
