‘Chal Mera Putt 4’ stuck over Pakistani cast, awaits CBFC clearance

Chandigarh, July 23 (UNI): Just days before its scheduled release, Chal Mera Putt 4 the latest installment in the beloved Punjabi film series has hit a roadblock as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has yet to issue a clearance certificate, reportedly due to the involvement of Pakistani actors.

The film, led by popular Punjabi star Amrinder Gill, is slated for an international premiere on August 1. However, the ongoing delay in certification raises doubts over its theatrical release in the country. While promotions continue abroad, fans in India may be left waiting or entirely disappointed.

This isn’t the first instance of cross-border tensions affecting Punjabi cinema. Recently, Sardaar Ji 3, starring Diljit Dosanjh, also faced a release ban in India over similar reasons, after casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Despite strong box office track records, films with Pakistani collaborations appear increasingly vulnerable to political sensitivities.

Even politicians have waded into the controversy, with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann weighing in on the broader issue of Pakistani artists participating in the Indian entertainment industry. Mann recalled that several Pakistani performers had privately expressed admiration for India during his comedy shows and even joked about preferring life across the border for basic necessities like food. His remarks stirred both support and criticism.

As the release date draws closer, the uncertainty surrounding Chal Mera Putt 4 has sparked fresh discussions on cultural exchange, censorship, and nationalism placing the Punjabi film industry once again in the eye of a storm.
