Central Ground Water Board Conducts Survey; Recharge Structures to Be Built Based on Report

Bhopal, The team of groundwater experts led by senior scientist Shri Rakesh Singh from the Central Ground Water Board conducted a survey of water sources in Vidisha district. As part of the Jal Ganga Samwardhan Campaign, such surveys will be conducted across the state. Based on the findings, structures will be constructed to recharge water sources, with all work to be completed before the onset of the monsoon.

Under the Jal Ganga Samwardhan Campaign, recharge structures will be developed to ensure the sustainability and continuity of single tap water schemes in rural areas. A simple and effective method for site selection in villages is essential for these structures. In the first phase, three villages in Vidisha district have been selected: Lala Khedi (Vidisha block), Simrahar (Gyaraspur block), and Moodra Ganeshpur.

For the survey, Shri Singh and groundwater consultant Dr. Swati Jain from the Public Health Engineering Department provided training to engineers from Janpad Panchayats and the department. Actual surveys of existing tube wells were conducted in the villages to gather data on depth, water levels, and casing. Villagers were informed about the importance of recharge structures. The training focused on recharge parameters, effective rainwater recharge, and the importance of using clean water for groundwater replenishment. Shri Singh explained that, based on village slope, water can be directed through 3-meter filters to recharge the tube wells.
