New Delhi, Feb 11 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday said it has arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Delhi Police posted at PS C.R. Park for allegedly demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 10 lakh from a man on the promise of settling a property dispute and not taking action against him.
The CBI registered a case on Tuesday against the accused ASI, Sunder Pal.
According to the agency, the accused allegedly demanded Rs 25 lakh from the complainant to settle a property dispute and assured him that no legal action would be taken.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the ASI red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 10 lakh as part payment of the Rs 25 lakh bribe from the complainant. The accused has been arrested.
“The strict action by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against corrupt public servants underscores its firm commitment to curbing corruption. Citizens who come across instances of corruption or are subjected to demands for bribes by public officials are encouraged to report such matters,” a CBI official said.
