New Delhi, Sept 4 (UNI) A Special CBI Court in Jabalpur has sentenced Yogesh Arora, former assistant engineer of LIC, to four years of rigorous imprisonment in a bribery case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
The CBI had registered the case in 2011 following allegations that Arora demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a contractor. The bribe was sought as a reward for clearing a bill of Rs 93,000 related to electrical maintenance work in LIC offices, and for processing pending bills worth Rs 35,000-Rs 40,000 for other small maintenance and supply works.
CBI officials reportedly laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe. After completing its investigation, the agency filed a chargesheet in 2012.
The court has found Arora guilty and convicted him.
