CBI Court sentences former assistant of Oriental Insurance Company to 4 yrs imprisonment for defraud

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) A Special CBI court in Ghaziabad has awarded four-year jail term to former assistant of Oriental Insurance Company for defrauding the firm.

The court while awarding the jail term to the accused Davinder Singh Adhikari, the then Assistant at Oriental Insurance Company Ltd, Meerut, also imposed a fine of Rs 35,000 on him.

This case was registered by the CBI in 2018. According to the CBI’s FIR, during the period 2014 to 2016, accused Davinder Singh Adhikari, with another accused entered into a criminal conspiracy to cheat the Oriental Insurance Company Ltd. and caused wrongful loss to the tune of Rs 36,11,059 and transferred the amount in his account and his friend’s account with mala-fide intention.

After registration of the case by CBI, the accused had deposited the defrauded amount of Rs 36,11,059 into the account of OICL, DO, Meerut.

Charge sheet in the case was filed in 2021 and charges were framed by the trial court in 2023 against the accused.

Adhikari filed application for plead guilty in the competent court in Ghaziabad accepting his guilt before the Ld. Court.

The Court accepted the application for plead guilty and convicted Davinder Singh Adhikari and sentenced him accordingly.
