New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said on Sunday that it had arrested a foreman In-charge of the Naigaon open cast mine, Neeljai Sub Area, Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000.
The accused has been identified as Deepak Jaiswal.
The CBI stated that it registered the case on January 9 based on a complaint against the accused.
The case, as per the CBI officials, was registered on the allegation that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000 (25,000 each), through the complainant, who is also a WCL employee, to facilitate the mutual transfer of two WCL employees. One of those employees was a relative of the complainant. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept a reduced amount of Rs. 40,000 (Rs. 20,000 each) to facilitate the transfer.
The CBI laid a trap on January 10 and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs. 40,000 from the complainant. He has since been arrested.
Further investigation is underway.
