CBI arrests branch manager of UP gramin bank in Basti for taking bribe

New Delhi, Jan 7 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday said that they have arrested the Branch Manager of Basti branch of Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank, and a private person, who was working as a peon in the same Bank, while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant.

A senior CBI official said that they registered the instant case based on a complaint on January 5.

The accused were identified as Naveen Singh Kuldeep, Branch Manager, and Anil Kumar, the peon of the bank.

The complainant alleged that he had applied for a loan of Rupees five lakh under the CM Yuva Udhyami Yojana.

As per the complaint, a part payment of Rs 2,72,000 was disbursed by the bank, and the Branch Manager of the said bank made a demand for Rs 15,000 as an undue favour (bribe) from the complainant through the peon of the bank for disbursing the balance amount of the sanctioned loan.
After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused Branch Manager and the private person (peon) red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.

Both the accused have been arrested and will be produced before the Competent Court.
